One of the books interested in Muslim-Christian polemic in
XIX.century is “Muhtasar al-Acviba al-Calila li Dahd al-Daawat alNasraniyya” written by Muhammed b.Ali al-Tıybi al-Dımışki. The book is a
summary of the book “al-Acviba al-Calila li Dahd al-Daavat al-Nasraniyya”
written by Sheik Ziyade.
Al-Dımışki, author of “Muhtasar”, was born in Damascus in Syria
in 1246/1830 and died there in 1317/1899.He wrote his book because of
his some friends demanded him to summarize the book of Sheik Ziyade.
The subjects disputed in the book are Christian Trinity, crucifix of
Jesus Christ on the Cross, falsification of the Bible and the good news about
Muhammed the Prophet in the Bible. The “Muhtasar” is an answer and an
apology against Christians who aggress to Islam in some subjects. It is
understood that the author perfectly knows the Koran and the Bible.
